Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, where deep levels of relaxation in the body, emotions and mind may be experienced. In a hypnotherapy session, this includes a guided protocol provided by the hypnotherapist. By accessing and utilizing the power of the client's inner resources, a sense of empowerment and self-esteem may be enhanced. Self-awareness and learning to take responsibility for their own progress may occur, as the client completes personally designed homework. Desired goals may include learning self-hypnosis techniques and skills, and achieving positive outcomes and success, with practices agreed to by the client and hypnotherapist.
Hypnosis transcends the analytical, critical level of mind, allowing for the facilitation and acceptance of directions, instructions and suggestions, desired by the client. The therapeutic use of hypnosis can also bring insights and information from the deeper mind, for the benefit of the client. The hypnotherapist utilizes interviews, discussion and professional methods that deal with underlying issues whenever appropriate, with the goal of achieving effective and lasting results. The services provided do not include the practice of medicine, and the hypnotherapist is not a licensed physician. The processes are non-diagnostic and are complimentary to the healing arts services that are licensed by the state.
Hypnotherapists provide professional services in accordance with acquired training, education and experience. They offer focused, guided attention during scheduled consultations to facilitate the clients’ health and well-being. A hypnotherapist’s work is client-centered, and the services provided utilize the induction of hypnosis. Specific methods and principles are used to help clients discover inner creative abilities to develop positive thinking and feeling, and to transform undesirable habits and negative behavior patterns into healthy ways of being. Therapeutic goals include achieving freedom from restrictive belief systems and thought patterns, assisting in solving personal problems, developing motivation and achieving goals.
